Backdating invoice issued in March but paid in April

Hi,

I’m looking to move to Crunch for my accounting software, and possible make use of the pro accountant feature in the future.

I’m having a play with the free version, trying to migrate the invoices/expenses from my current solution, self hosted Invoice Ninja instance.

I believe everything will be able to migrate with the exception of one invoice. It was sent 31st March 2021 but was not paid until mid April. Chrunch doesn’t let me enter an invoice before the start of this tax year, is there any way around this or is it better to enter the invoice as early as possible and just add a note that it was sent earlier.

I’m planning on including copies of the existing invoices for each migrated one anyway, in case I need it for auditing purposes.

Some additional questions after having a play:

Is it possible to add more detail to a invoice line item rather than the ~ 160 characters it allows? I do freelance development work and so including details about a particular line item is useful to explain what functionality that is for.
I see invoices can have a estimate/quote downloaded. Is there no way to have a different entry for an estimate/quote? The reasons for this is larger pieces of work may be paid for with a deposit plus one or more additional payments. From what I could see there isn’t a way to change the status of an invoice to track the estimate journey?

Usually, when someone joins and has an unpaid invoice from a previous period, we’d suggest just entering the client payment.

If you need more than the max character limit for line items then we’d suggest keeping it simple for the Crunch invoice line, and then create a file containing the detailed description (you can add this as an attachment, or use the invoice notes section).

Re: your last point - you can record multiple payments against an invoice if needed - this would allow for recording a deposit and then the rest of the payment. Apologies if I’ve misunderstood. I’d be more than happy to get someone to contact you if this doesn’t resolve the issue?
