Payment not savaing as note on original invoice is too long

I’m trying to save a payment against an invoice and it’s not saving as it is showing an error with the note being too long, but not allowing me to change that. Any ideas on how to get around this or is it a bug that needs fixing?

Hi, Thank you for your query. Beta applies a limit of 255 characters to the note (classic does not), but because the invoice has been issued, the note can’t be edited and you can’t save the payment in the beta/modern version. We recommend trying the ‘client payments’ option in the menu to add the payment via classic as this will not apply the note length validation.
