How to word it, client asking inc or ex VAT

Hi Community,

I need some help. Be nice as I’m new to this and struggle sometimes to understand elements around accounting and especially VAT. As I understand because I’m not VAT registered when quoting for a job my price is just my price, as it’s not inc or ex VAT, as VAT isn’t applicable. This does confuse me slightly, but I wanted to ask if that’s the correct understanding. I have a client who has just emailed asking if the price quoted is inc VAT. What would be the best way to reply to them?

As you aren’t registered for VAT, the full amount that you charge won’t need VAT added. You can reply to your client and say that you aren’t VAT registered so it would not be applicable to your invoice - Alexandra
