Self assessment 23: tax repayment due (lucky me)

How long typically does it take for a tax repayment that is due to me to get returned? Assume it can only happen after the deadline of 31/Jan?
Also, I have just seen that I haven’t supplied any bank details - should I then expect a cheque from HMRC?

Hi mjrwole,

That’s excellent news that you’re due a rebate!

That’s correct, if you didn’t include bank details for HMRC then they’ll issue a cheque. Typically, this will be sent a month or two after your return is submitted. However, processing time will depend on when you send your return in and how big a backlog they’re currently experiencing.
