coofercat Similar to that, an unexpected opportunity came up earlier this year that enabled me to leave the job I had not been enjoying for some time and go self-employed with enough of a guaranteed project contract to see me through financially while I see where it takes me. Maybe ironically, the initial project is with the company I left, but it allows me to focus on what I want to do (web design/development), which previously was just one part of my wider role. Plus more flexibility, autonomy and extra time to focus on the skills I want to develop.
