Accounting period

I’m trying to input all my invoices / bills from accounting year 2021 to 2022.
The first bill I have created flags up
“The expense date is not within an open accounting period”
And will not let me proceed.

Does anyone know what I need to do?

Hi, all the expenses will need to be dated within the 2021 to 2022 accounting year. If any expenses are being inputted outside of this, then the system won’t allow you to save. This may be why the first bill is flagging up. If this isn’t the case and you’re still having issues, please get in touch with us on 0330 127 3836.

The date I enter is 25/01/2022 so within the accounting year.

I have had no problem entering bills/invoices for 2022 - 2023 accounting year.

I have entered my bank account details and put the balance from 6/5/22 as I do not want to get confused over the balance of the last accounting year. Which is the reason I am trying Crunch, as I want to simply upload all of last years invoices/bills to do my tax return and then start fresh with this year.

Apologies that you are still receiving an error message. If you’re a Sole Trader then your accounting period will need to start in line with the tax year (6th April), so you’d only need to input details from this point onwards. If you are wanting to file your Self Assessment for 2021/22, you can still do this. You’ll need to complete a questionnaire and attach your spreadsheets with your data from the previous year. You’ll be promoted when to do this. So for now, there is no need to backdate last year’s data into the software.

AlexandraMoore I was attempting to input all my invoices/bills for the the last tax year 2021 - 2022. Can you clarify whether I am able to do that or not? It is the first time I have used Crunch.

Your Crunch account is set up to manage from the year in which you created the account onwards. Historical years should not be backdated in the software. If you would like us to produce and file for you for the 2021/22 tax year, you’ll need to go to the Self Assessment section and fill in the questionnaire for that year
